Hard to translate fruits

20

A lot of time in translation, we change one word to another. “Manzana” in Spanish means “apple” in English, for example. But sometimes, there is food that simply doesn’t exist in the other language. Here are some examples of fruits found in Colombia that are difficult to translate:

FruitDescriptionPicture
UchuvaA round, smooth berry resembling a miniature tomato
FeijoaA sweet, green, oval fruit about the size of a chicken egg.
BorojóA round, brown fruit with a lot of seeds.
GulupaIt’s a round, dark purple fruit.
ZapoteA big, round and brown fruit
LuloA small, yellow, round fruit
