General

At Langoid, one of our main priorities is the privacy of your personal data. This Privacy Policy document (“Privacy Policy”) details how Langoid (“Langoid”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) process your personal data that you may submit or we collect through our website that accessible from https://langoid.com (our “Services”). This Privacy Policy explains what information that we collect, how we process and/or sharing it, and your rights and obligation related to your personal data.

This Privacy Policy only applies to our online Services as we mentioned above. Any personal data collected offline or outside the Services is not subject to this Privacy Policy. Company behind these Services is Tutor D.O.O., Celebicka 6/2 Belgrade, Serbia. Unless indicated otherwise, this Privacy Policy does not apply to any third party products or services, or to the practices of any companies that we do not own or control, including any companies that you may interact with or know through our Services.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect the changes of our practices. Thus, we encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy for the latest information of our practice. We will indicate the date this Privacy Policy was last revised at the bottom of the page. Your continued use of the Services after such revisions have been made constitutes your consent of the Privacy Policy.

Information we collect

When you register for a Langoid account, we collect personal data that you submit including your name, email address, language you know and you want to study, and other optional information such as your profile picture.

When you visit our website, we will collect information using log files. The information collected including pages and files accessed, date and time stamp, online identifiers (e.g. internet protocol /IP address, Internet Service Provider/ISP), information about your device (e.g. browser type and version, language setting, operating system), referring/exit pages, geographical information, number of clicks, and length of visit.

As a safeguard to protect your privacy, we use these log files data as aggregate and will not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. Therefore, they can no longer be traced back to you. The information we retain is in anonymous form and is only used for statistical purposes such as for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

When you use our Services, we also collect information about you including the personal profile that you set up (this will be available publicly to other users who visit your profile page), chats you send and receive, your searches and queries, information that you post in forum, your tasks activities, your enrollment in courses with teachers, and your session duration. We also collect information related to your learning activities such as your test answers, lessons progress, and your practiced words (which will be stored in your personal vocabulary page). We may also collect information about you from other users such as when they give likes or comments about you.

We may process information relating to our customer relationship, such as when you contact us directly. The data we may receive including your name, email address, phone number, the content of the messages and/or attachments you may send us, and any information contained in the communication between us and you.

When you make payment on Langoid for premium option or for teacher class, you may provide payment information such as your card details and other payment details. We use third-party payment services and we do not store your credit card information. In this respect, the data protection of the payment service provider applies.

In addition to our standard registration process, we also allow you to sign up to our website using your Facebook or Google account. If you want to use one of these third-party accounts, you will be redirected to the page of the respective provider and navigated through the registration process. We will only collect information that you have agreed to make available such as your name, email address, profile information, and preferences. This information is provided to us by Facebook or Google under their privacy policies. Any data you submit in the registration process is transmitted via a secure connection and we do not use your login details to access any personal information nor do we store any of this information. There is no permanent link between your Facebook or Google account and your Langoid account.

We urge you not to supply any other person’s personal data to us, unless we deem it necessary and ask you to do so.

Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to and then stored on a user’s computer which is tied to information about the respective user. Generally, Langoid cookies work by assigning a unique number to your browser that only has meaning in the Langoid website. Most browsers automatically accept cookies. To manage the collection of information through cookies or other equivalent technology, you can configure it in your browser’s settings to accept all cookies, deny all cookies, or notify you when there is a cookie request. You can also delete any cookies that are already stored on your device, please refer to your browser instruction to do so

The cookies are used to store information such as your preferences and the pages on the website that you accessed or visited. This information is used to optimize users’ experience by customizing our web page content based on your browser type and/or other information as well as delivering content specific to your interests.

After you log in to the website, we store your authorization data such as your user ID and password in cookies, so you do not need to enter it repeatedly during the session. Thus, by rejecting cookies, you can only visit the pages for not logged users.

How we use your information

Langoid uses and processes the information we collect in various ways, but mainly to provide, operate, maintain and expand our services, website and business, as well as to improve and personalize the users’ experience in using our Services. We may also use the information we collected to develop new products, features, and functionality related to our Services. As a business, it is essential that we perform our Services to you in the best possible way.

Langoid may use and share anonymous data collected through the Services without limitation. This data may be processed for statistical purposes, i.e. to understand and analyze how users utilize our Services.

When you register an account in Langoid, some of your information is made public and will be available at various locations. This data included your name, username, user ID, age, location, time, gender, your current level and points, your native language and the languages you learn, your bio, your friends and teachers, the statistic visualization of your vocabulary, time you spent on the website, and the list of tasks you do. Third party websites may be able to read, collect and use your publicly available data for their own purposes. The email address you use to register our website will not be available publicly.

We also use your learning information to provide you with statistics and visualizations related to key data points such as your vocabulary or words you learned as well as to maintain back-ups of our database.

Langoid also uses the information to enforce our terms, conditions and policies, to send you essential notifications, to communicate with you, as well as to do troubleshooting, data analysis, or testing when needed. We also use the data to ensure the security of our website and services, and also to investigate and help prevent security issues and abuse. Some information we collect or retain is also because it is required by applicable law, legal process or regulations.

Communication with our users is another purpose of us collecting your information. This includes communication directly through the contact information you provide to us or through one of our partners. With this information we can provide customer service, including responding to your questions and comments, providing you with updates, new services, and other information related to the website, and also sending you offers for marketing and promotional purposes. Other purposes of collecting information, if not explained in this Privacy Policy, will be made clear to you at the point we ask you to provide that information.

Third party websites and links

We do not have any advertisements on the website nor do we allow any third party cookies to be used for advertising. However, Langoid websites may contain links or plug-in to third-party websites. One example is that we use YouTube to integrate videos. By playing the embedded videos, you will be connected to the YouTube servers and your IP address will be transmitted. If you are logged into your YouTube account while playing the videos, YouTube will assign information regarding the videos you have viewed to your personal YouTube account. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account prior to using our website.

You may also note that by clicking links or plug-ins to other websites, you may allow third-parties to collect your personal information. Our Privacy Policy does not apply to other websites, we do not control these third parties, and hence we are not responsible for their privacy policies. When you leave our website, we encourage you to consult the privacy policies of the website you visit. Langoid’s inclusion of such links or plug-ins does not imply our endorsement to the content of such sites except as disclosed in the Services.

When is your data shared?

We use web analytics tools to help us understand how users engage with our website, and to detect where or how you encountered an error when using our website. The web analytics tools use cookies to collect information regarding this purpose. Since we have activated data anonymization, the reports will only disclose website activity trends without directly identifying individual visitors. Thus, the analytics will not be based on you as a person, but only in aggregated form for statistical analyses purposes. You can prevent the cookies from being saved by configuring settings in your browser. However by doing so you may not be able to use the website features for the logged in users.

In the event that you come to our website by clicking a Google ad, Google AdWords will place a cookie on your computer. From this, we will receive information regarding the total number of users who have clicked the advertisement. We do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

The financial transaction relating to our Services is handled by our payment service provider. The payment service provider commissioned by Langoid is responsible for collecting and processing your payment details (including bank details, credit card data, etc.). The data protection of the respective payment should be in accordance with the privacy statements of the respective payment service provider.

In other cases, we may share your information in response to lawful requests such as subpoenas, court orders or warrants by law enforcement, public or governmental agencies, or private litigants, if we determine that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with the law. Additionally, we will access and share your information when we believe it is necessary to protect our interests or property and legal rights, to address issues of national security or other issues of public importance, to prevent fraud or other illegal activities carried out through our Services or our name, to protect your vital interests or the vital interests of other person, or to take action regarding situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person as well as to take action regarding violations of Langoid’s Terms of Services. This includes disclosing the information to our legal counsel, other companies, lawyers, and government agencies in connection with the actual or potential litigation.

If Langoid becomes involved in a business merger or acquisition, securities offering, reorganization, bankruptcy, or any activities resulting in the substantial changes of the ownership of Langoid business, your personal information will be transferred in connection with such activities. In any such transfer of information, your personal data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Data protection rights and data retention

You can manage your account at langoid.com/me/edit-profile to update and correct your information in your profile. You also entitled to the following rights to your personal data that we hold about you, unless stated otherwise by local law:

• You have the right to access your data, to request copies of your personal data
• You have the right to rectify your data, to request that we should correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request that we should complete the information you believe is incomplete.
• You have the right to erase, to request that we erase the personal data we hold about you without undue delay under certain circumstances. The circumstances include: the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected or processed; you withdraw consent; you object to the processing under certain rules of applicable data protection law; the processing is for direct marketing purposes; and/or the personal data have been unlawfully processed. The right to erasure cannot be exercised where the processing of the personal data is deemed necessary, i.e. for exercising the right of freedom of expression and information; to comply with a legal obligation; or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
• You have the right to withdraw consent for processing your personal information. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing the data prior to withdrawal.
• You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data under certain conditions. Those certain conditions are: when you challenge the accuracy of your personal data that we hold; when the processing is unlawful but you do not want to exercise erasure; you require your personal data for the establishment, exercise of defense of legal claims but we no longer need those data for the purpose of our processing; or you have objected to processing and the verification is still pending regarding that objection. Under these circumstances, we may continue to store your personal data, but the processing has been restricted. We will only otherwise process it if we have your consent to do the processing; or when it is necessary to process a legal claim or litigation process; for protection of the rights of another person; or for reason of important public interest.
• You have the right to object to us processing your personal data. However this right is excluded if the legal basis for the processing confirms that the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest; to exercise any official authority vested in us; or when the processing is necessary for the purpose of legitimate interests pursued by us or by other third parties. If you make such objection, we will cease to process you personal information unless there is a legitimate ground for processing which override your rights and interests, or when it is necessary to process a legal claim or litigation process, or when the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out for the reason of public interest.

This right does not apply if it would adversely affect the rights and freedoms of other parties.

If you make such a request, we will have 30 days to respond after we received such request, unless we notify you that we require additional time to respond. Please note that these rights are not absolute. We will inform you as to the actions that we are going to take when you make your request.

You can delete your Langoid account by following the instructions available through the Services. Please note that once deleted, your account, your data, activities, points and ranking cannot be reinstated. However the content you have shared in the website (such as your tasks, stories, forum posts, etc.) or those others may have copied may also be visible after the deletion of your account.

Langoid will retain your personal data for as long as we need in order to fulfill our legitimate business interests, to conduct audits, to demonstrate compliance with legal obligations, to resolve disputes and to enforce our agreements. In order to determine the appropriate retention period of the data, we will consider the amount, nature, as well as the sensitivity of the respective data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of the data, the purpose of processing the data, and the applicable legal requirements.

You may exercise your rights related to your personal data by contacting us following the instructions available through the Services.

CCPA Privacy rights

Under the CCPA, among other rights, residents of California have the right to:

• Request us to disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data that we have collected related to you. You have the right to access a copy of personal data we hold about you and understand how we process that data and how it may be shared.
• Request a business that sells a consumer’s personal data not to sell your personal data. However we do not sell users personal information in the sense that most people think of selling, but we do share it in certain circumstances with third parties, such as for statistical and analytical purposes. If you do not wish your personal data being shared, you may opt out of having your personal data being shared with certain third parties.
• No discrimination. We may not discriminate against California residents who exercise any of the foregoing rights under the CCPA.
• Request us to delete your account and personal information.

Please note that we may take steps to verify your identity before acting on your request to exercise your rights. Thus, you will need to provide us with certain personal information so we can match it with our records in order to verify your identity and residency. This specific personal information is only for verification purposes and will not be used for any other purpose.

We will have 30 days to respond after receiving the request. If there is a delay in our response due to unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you.

Information regarding children under age of digital consent

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.

Langoid does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.

Information security

Langoid has implemented several measures we believe appropriate to safeguard the collection, transmission and storage of your personal information that we collect. However, data transmissions over the internet are not 100% secure. Consequently, Langoid cannot guarantee or warrant the security of information you transmit to Langoid. To help ensure that these measures are effective to prevent any unauthorized access to your personal information, you should be aware of the security features available to you through your browser, ensuring that your device is free from all types of malicious code, spyware, viruses, Trojans, and so forth.
