How to Say Cooking Related Stuff in Other Language

★ 21

One of my hobbies is cooking. I find it very therapeutic to measure, cut, and do repeated things. It is somehow calming. And I got to eat a delicious food afterwards, well of course if the cooking is a success. I am basically a foodie, and I would love to try every kind of food from every corner of the world. But of course it is not always easy to find them in here, in the place where I live, and it is not always cheap too. So I decided to learn some recipe from other country.

The obvious problem is that I was not familiar with the terms in English. In the beginning I would always use Google to search many terms I did not understand. And of course the measurement too, because here in Indonesia we use metric measurement like grams, kilograms, etc., but some of the recipes use imperial measurement like cups, pounds, etc. Here I want to share some terms that I found. You can add too so we can have a comprehensive cooking terms dictionary :) All pictures I added here I found on Google.

Well done, you really tried to describe everything vividly! I also enjoy cooking and preparing various dishes. We in Serbia really have good food and I am also very attracted and I like Turkish food :)

Estoy de acuerdo con la comida turca, pero nunca antes había probado la comida serbia. ¿Puedes darme una recomendación?
