Langoid is finally going Live!

We are offering you our First Version, the Tasks and Forum.

This version is especially advantageous for those who already have preliminary knowledge of specific languages they are currently learning, but of course a total beginner is also welcomed. For you who see yourself as a total beginner, please join us and familiarize yourself with how the language sounds and written, enrich yourself with many resources, warming up and make yourself fall in love deeper with the language you want to learn. Enjoy :) 

Tasks

We are introducing Tasks feature, which consists of:

1. Writing Story;
2. Translate to;
3. Translate from;
4. Read Story; and
5. Listen Story.

Writing Story

Here you can practice constructing sentences in your learning language. In Writing Story Task, you can write text with at least 50 words and expect correction from your fellow learners or even from the natives. They may also give you explanation of what you did good and what you need to improve in the comment section. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Learning through mistakes gives you opportunity to understand how to do it right the next time.

Translate to

Translating text is one of the active way to practice a language you are learning. Langoid now have features to help you do this. In Translate To feature, you can practice translating story from your native language to the language you are currently learning. Similar with Writing Story, you can also expect someone to give you correction if you make any mistake and you can help others by correcting their translation for the languages you know.

Translate from

Similar with the Translate to feature, in Translate from you can also practice translating sentences. In here, you will see the stories written in the language you are currently learning and you can try to translate them into your native language.

Read story

After polishing your writing skill, now it’s time to practice your pronunciation. In Read story, you can choose stories for you to read out loud. Record yourself reading the text with the integrated recording tools. When the other users give you corrections, you can compare your pronunciation with theirs. This is no audio recognition tools, this is an actual human being listening to you and giving you feedback.

Listen story

Some of the polyglots have a hard time understanding someone in a conversation because they didn’t learn how to listen. We found the effective way to learn this skill. You listen to a video or audio, turn off the subtitles, write what you hear and compare what you wrote to the subtitles. So, we implemented this technique in the Listen story task. You listen to an audio, write what you hear, and someone will correct what you wrote.

Voting and Marked as Perfect

For each task, every user other than the creator have right to give one vote and one click to marked the task as perfect. The task or correction that gets the most upvote and perfect badge will be marked as perfect and will be used in another task. So only the tasks with no mistake will be used for practice in another tasks.

How do the Tasks work?

1. You write a Story
2. Someone will correct your Story
3. Other users will rate your Story, either vote up or down and they can also mark it as perfect
4. The Story that was marked as perfect will be used in the Translate To, Translate From and Read Story
5. In the Translate To and From, if someone translate it to the other language and was marked as perfect, that Story again will be used to the other Tasks
6. In the Read Story, the audio that is marked as perfect will be used to Listen Story
7. And the cycle will continue

Forum

Like any other ordinary forum, Langoid Forum is divided into categories, each categories have different topics, and each topics has its own replies. In this Forum, you can expect to find new friends, read interesting articles, learn more about grammar, and also post your own writing and share your ideas.

But unlike any ordinary forum, here you can see that every topics have translations in many languages. And the good news is that the translation not only can be done by Langoid moderator, but you as our dear users can also participate in the process. But how if my translation is not good enough, you say? No worries, we have this Forum - Tasks integration. Any topics, replies, or translations you made in the forum, if they are written in other language than your native, it will automatically be transferred to Story Task. Then other user can read it, give corrections, or mark it as perfect.

Langoid Forum is no ordinary Forum! It is especially designed for learning languages.
