Perlu & Butuh
★ 12
I'm confused as to when you need to use each of them, because while "perlu" means "necessary" and "butuh" means "need", in sentences I often find that "perlu" is being used as "need" instead. For example, "you don't need to rush" is translated as "Anda tidak perlu buru-buru". What's the difference?

I just check the Indonesian dictionary and butuh is the definition of perlu and vice versa, so I think both are interchangeable.
But in my experience, butuh has one higher level or urgency than perlu, so if perlu is need, then butuh is need it more.
