Possessives in Indonesian
★ 21
Unlike in English, possessives in Indonesian is put after the noun.
my book - buku saya
her car - mobilnya
Subject Pronoun | Possessive Adjectives | ||
I | saya / aku | my | saya / -ku |
you | kamu | your | kamu / -mu |
he / she | dia | his / her | dia / -nya |
it | itu / dia | its | -nya |
we | kita / kami | our | kita / kami |
you (plural) | kalian | your | kalian |
they | mereka | their | mereka |
The good news is, you can just use the same word as your subject pronoun (other than for "it" if it is an unalive object, like building, car, chair etc.).
You only need to put it after the noun. So it is the opposite of English structure.
