Present and simple...
We had an article about verb sein before, where we had its present and simple past time. We said that it's an important verb and very much used in every day conversation. Verb haben is just like the verb sein, very imporant and used. We also use it in making past tense of verbs - in some cases we use verb sein and in other cases verb haben (there will be a special article regarding that).
Let's see an example of use of verb haben in every day life:
Ich habe 2 Schwestern. ------------ I have 2 sisters.
Ich habe die Geschenke gestern gekauft. --------- I bought presents yesterday. here it is used as an auxillary verb (it's used for building past tense)
Now, let's see its conjugation:
Present (Präsens)
Singular Plural
ich habe 1. wir haben
du hast 2. ihr habt
er/sie/es hat 3. sie/Sie haben
Simple past tense (Präteritum)
Singular Plural
ich hatte 1. wir hatten
du hattest 2. ihr hattet
er/sie/es hatte 3. sie/Sie hatten
We had an example of present tense of verb haben in the beginning, let's see simple past tense too:
Ich hatte 5 Bücher, aber ich habe meiner Schwester 2 Bücher gegeben. --------- I had 5 books, but I gave 2 books to my sister. here is important the first part of the sentence and the highlighted verb. the other part will be easy too once you learn past tense that is not Präteritum
