A very interesting fact, is that in english we only use the closing question mark (?). In Spanish, we use it at the beginning and the end (¿?).
When writing these questions, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to write the tilde over the stressed vowel. If not, the meaning changes completely.
For example:
- "Que" without a tilde
El celular que compraste / The cellphone that you bought.
- "Cuando" without a tilde
Él llegó cuando yo me fui / He arrived when I left.
- "Como" without a tilde
Tu bebé se ve como tú / Your baby looks like you.
- "Porque" without a tilde and no space
Me fui porque estaba cansada / I left because I was tired.
You see? Everytime you write a question, put a tilde. This is a very common mistake even for spanish-speaking people! So remember to take it into consideration.
:)
