Have you ever wondered why the long-shaped purple-colored vegetable is called “eggplant”? It looks nothing like an egg!


Actually, back in the 1700s, the popular variety of this plant is the one with rounder and smaller shape with yellowish or white color. It actually looks like an egg with a stalk.

Probably for its French origin.In United Kingdom they use 'Aubergine' ,but in United States it's 'Eggplant'. People think English is English,but it may vary in another countries.


People in United States may not be get Aubergine but i am pretty sure people in UK understand 'Eggplant'.
